So we are living in the 1.5C world. Has it ended? No. Is it better? No. Is it bad? Depends, but mostly the net result is negative.

What can we do individually? Let’s not be evangelically driven and ask of people to not procreate. That is already happening automatically even in poorer countries. We humans thought we are the pinnacle of animal evolution and therefore not subject to population laws (network of effects). We are not, it turn out that if we put too many humans in tight spaces, and make them work dubble so hard, they don’t want babies.
Macronature effects in full swing. We have gone in 20 years from: YOU SHALL NOT HAVE KIDS! to: HELP, WE NEED BABIES!
So the fish cannot outgrow their aquarium.
Pendulum will swing, many populations will stabilize at a (hopefully) sustainable number. Are we going extinct? Hell no, we survived ice age without technology. We will survive Greenhouse age. Will we take the surrounding nature and evironment down with us? Yes we will.

It is human nature to ignore a problem, and then overreact. Hard. I believe the problem is not big enough for the majority of the rich countries to act on it. We need to wait until the water is up to our neck to wake up (unfortuanately). As long as our tribe is fine we do not tend to do much to help other tribes. Moreover we want to keep the tribe with problems in it’s place, how dare they come and try to live were we do!

What can we do individually? What we can. If your job is to solve a tiny pice of the clusfterf..ck 1.5 and potenitally 3C to 4C quite soon, do it. Most of us cannot do anything about the core problem, and deal with the aftermath.
In plant breeding we feel this change. New plant diseases (viruses and more) and weeds are challenging what we do. A 10 year scenario used to be 6 to 8 years out of 10 were normal years, the rest were somewhat extreme.
Now I plan for 4-5 years of drought, 3-4 too much precipiation (out of 10) and the rest (1-2 years out of 10) are normal years.
Geopolitics are pushing us into being self sufficient in food and electric cars and more.

It’s pity that it take literally a war to wake up Europe. When we almost lost all the industry we wake up.
When we will have finished up all the extraction from Earth we will finally realise that our model based on growth (whatever flavour) cannot be sustainable.
But we need to live better than kings. All of us (myself guilty as well), this spreads the responsability to most of us, so it take a long time to realise this. This is why we will act only when the flood is at doorsteps. Or war. Or a stopping Amoc.

Oh Amoc, what a word. Everybody thinks, so what, it will be colder in Europe. No problem (evil laugh inside my head). How about -30 in the winter, and +40 in the Summer (laugh still going on nervously)? Basically North of Canada on steroids.

Flood resistant
Resistant to many xxx pests. Thank you for protecting us against pesticides Europe. This helps as much as arbitrary drawn maps by the English Empire that are countries now (thinking about India/Pakistan/Middle East etc).
Yielding well
Nutritive value: No no why do we need it, everything must be as cheap and abundant, we need yield! If there is any cook at a prestigous restaurant and want a pea variety bred for taste. Contact me. Industry has no interest in it.
